In 1989, VLL became the first Little League in Virginia to offer the Challenger program for individuals with special needs, and in the decades since it has allowed differently abled children and young adults from our community to play adaptive baseball in a nurturing and fun environment with the help of adult coaches and youth player "Buddies." The season kicks off on Opening Day, Saturday April 5, immediately following the season-opening ceremonies at Nance Field. The remaining season schedule consists of Sunday afternoon games plus one Friday evening game under the lights at Yeonas Park.
