Robust 2024 'Fall Ball' Program Underway,
New Majors/3A Team Insignias Introduced
Our Fall Ball program officially kicks off on Monday, August 26, with 600+ players and 55 teams -- our largest fall enrollment in years -- as well as an influx of first-time players and new excitement about baseball.
Adding some novelty, this season our 16 Majors and 3A teams will for the first time be outfitted with hats and jerseys featuring team names and mascots from the professional Minor Leagues, such as the Trash Pandas, Yard Goats, Space Cowboys, and Timber Rattlers. Players in our Intermediate, 2A, 1A, and Juniors levels will continue to wear Washington Nationals-themed uniforms generously donated by the Nationals-Inova TeamUP program.
All rosters have been formed and schedules have been set, with just a handful of slots remaining in our Sunday Juniors-Tee program for players age 4-5. Act very quickly if you would like to enroll a Juniors player.
You can follow our Majors competition all season long on GameChanger, and you can watch any Yeonas Park games for Majors, 3A & 2A teams on our GoDog streaming service.
Thank you to the dozens of parents who have raised their hands to lead and coach these teams for a fun, two-month season; if you are not yourself coaching and have a player participating, please offer to help the coaches however you can. And remember to always support our valued sponsors.

Vote for (or Join) the 2024-25 VLL Board of Directors
Vienna Little League is seeking nominations of qualified individuals to serve on our Board of Directors from October 2024-September 2025. Elected annually, the Board is a "working board" composed of volunteers with diverse perspectives, varied backgrounds and skill sets who commit to provide stewardship and strategic direction for our youth baseball programs.
New Board members are needed each year to replace those whose service has been completed. For more information about various Board roles, please see these position descriptions. (The current Board composition is available here.) At least 25% of the Board must consist of volunteers who are not managing or coaching teams.
Only a recognized Regular Member of VLL may be considered as a candidate for the Board of Directors. Any person who has volunteered for at least 40 hours within the prior year (October 2023-September 2024) will be recognized as a Regular Member. Qualifying volunteer service is not limited to coaching activities; service also includes time spent as a volunteer at special events or other roles.
To be recognized as a Regular Member, please fill out this form. To self-nominate or recommend a qualified candidate for the Board, please fill out this form. If you have any questions, please contact VLL Secretary Shannon Aimone ([email protected]). Forms are due no later than Wednesday, September 11.
The election of the 2024-2025 VLL Board of Directors will be held at the VLL Annual Membership Meeting on Wednesday, September 18, at 8 PM at the Vienna Community Center. Participation at the Annual Meeting and voting is limited to recognized Regular Members of the league.
YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD REALTOR HITS A GRAND SLAM EVERY TIME: Real estate agent Omar Samaha of The Samaha Group of Long & Foster is proud to sponsor VLL’s new live and on-demand video streaming service at Yeonas Park (as well as this "Diamond Talk" newsletter). Through this partnership, The Samaha Group will be asking our fans each week we're in season to vote on a "play of the week" from Crabtree or Rhodes Field. Games begin right after Labor Day.
Call 'Em Like You See 'Em: Umpires Wanted (Ages 13+)
Officiating Little League games is a great job opportunity for former VLL players, as well as a way for adults to support community baseball. No experience is necessary; we will train you.
Interest meetings/training for new umpires will be held at Yeonas Park on:
-- Thursday, August 29, at 6 PM
-- Sunday, September 8, at 9 AM
Pay is $40+ per game. There is no required schedule; work when available. Uniforms, protective gear, and other accessories will be provided by VLL. 12-year-olds who have aged out of Majors may be considered for umpire roles if they work with a parent.
If you have any questions, please contact Umpire-in-Chief Brian Descovich at [email protected] or 516-476-8605.
