Opening Day is finally here! Please join us at Yeonas Park this Saturday morning to kick off our spring season with our only all-league gathering of the year.

Early arrival is encouraged, as the parking lot will be closed to all besides handicapped guests and ceremony invitees. Guests are welcome to park along nearby streets (Ross Dr., Patrick St., and George St.) or in the public lot at Southside Park, but please be considerate of our neighbors.

Players should come dressed in uniform. Teams will assemble on Rhodes Field (located behind the snack bar) at 8:30 am -- volunteers will be there to direct players. Starting at 9:00 am sharp, all players will parade down to Nance Field and stay with their team on the field for duration of the ceremony, which will celebrate both the history and future of our league. 

The snack bar will be open and serving breakfast burritos from Anita’s, donuts from Dunkin', and coffee from VLL sponsor Caffe Amouri. VLL merch in youth and adult sizes will also be on sale. The ceremony will conclude in plenty of time for players to get to early games. If you don't have a game to get to, please stick around and cheer on the Challenger game of on Nance Field or watch one of the early Majors games on Crabtree or Rhodes.


PLUS, HELP US NAME OUR NEW LEAGUE MASCOT: VLL's new mascot will make their first public appearance at the Opening Day ceremony and is excited to meet all of our players. We need your help naming him/her. Send suggestions to [email protected]. The chosen mascot name will be revealed to all on Saturday, and the submitter will receive a brand new Vienna Little League hooded sweatshirt!

What's On the Yeonas Park Menu this Season?

We've made lots of offseason improvements at the park that we're excited for you to see, including several upgrades at our concession stand. If you like the smell of freshly grilled burgers, then you're in for a treat because our snack bar now has a flattop grill (and we need adult volunteers to help run it).

On all Majors game days, we will have Vienna Inn chili (on its own or on a hot dog), plus these weekly specials:

• Tuesdays: Chick-fil-A sandwiches
• Wednesdays: Lombardi's pizza
• Fridays: Grilled hamburgers
• Saturdays: Chick-fil-A sandwiches & Lombardi's pizza.

PICTURE DAYS: A VLL sponsor since 1976(!), Mattox Photography will be at Yeonas Park on Sunday, April 28 and Sunday, May 5 taking team photos and individual pictures for our families and our sponsor plaques. Each team will be given an assigned date and time. If you would like to order copies or a keepsake, the order form is attached (and available here). The photo magnets are a treasured fixture on kitchen refrigerators all over Vienna!

Recognize a VLL Coach Who Leads by Example

This Spring 2024 season, Inova Health-GoHealth Urgent Care is excited to be supporting VLL. As part of their commitment to youth sports, they are seeking nominations for the "Inova Health-GoHealth Urgent Care Coach of the Year Award," which recognizes outstanding coaches making an impact in their community. Please consider nominating VLL coaches who you see leading by example and putting their players first. Inova Health-GoHealth Urgent Care will make a $2,000 donation to the league of the winning coach. This is a great way to thank your volunteer coaches for all the hard work and time they dedicate to ensure everyone has a great season. Wear Your Jersey to DQ for a Postgame $1 Cone

Dairy Queen is the official postgame destination of Little League International. In honor of that partnership, from April through July, any Little League player who wears his or her jersey to DQ can get a small ice cream cone for just $1. Enjoy a treat with teammates at DQ!

What's On Deck with BBA

This summer, VLL sponsor Bradley Baseball Academia will be holding four weeks of indoor youth summer camps at their indoor facility in Reston. These baseball-only camps are open to players ages 8-14 of all skill levels. 

Founded in 2010, BBA has become the premier organization in the Washington, D.C. area for player development in baseball and softball. BBA's staff of professional coaches will help your player continue their development on the diamond during the summer months, and BBA Youth Summer Camps are the best way for them to do so! These indoor youth camps will run from Monday-Thursday and will cover all phases of the game, to include hitting, pitching, fielding, and base running. Camps will be held in a state-of-the-art facility, and campers will have access to development tools such as HitTrax, Rapsodo, Clean Fuego, Driveline Hitting & Pitching, and more! All BBA indoor camps will feature a 4:1 camper to instructor ratio, and each camper will receive a BBA camp t-shirt.

We want to see your photos! Help us document all the memories being made this season by sharing your photos with the league. We plan to feature images of the great baseball action and off-the-field fun on our website and in our social-media feeds.

To submit a photo, please follow these steps, which you can do right from your phone:

1. Visit the following link on the device that has the photo:

2. Click "Add files" and then browse to the "Photo Library" or other photo location.

3. Select the item(s) and click "Add."

Then keep an eye out for your photo to be featured in our online posts.

Four-Game Fridays at Yeonas Park Start Next Week

VLL's Friday Night Series begins next week and runs through May 10. Each week will feature four Majors games (two AL and two NL division rivalries). Come out, have dinner (burgers will be on the grill!), and watch the best Little League baseball around.

The first week, April 19, will feature the following matchups:
- 5:45 pm Crabtree (AL): White Sox @ Red Sox
- 5:45 pm Rhodes (NL): Twins @ Phillies
- 8:00 pm Crabtree (AL): Giants @Blue Jays
- 8:00 pm Rhodes (NL): Orioles @ Dodgers

The same teams will then swap home/visitor designations and face each other again in a home-and-home rematch on Saturday afternoon.
