VLL's Volunteer of the Year to be Honored at Nats Park
VLL is pleased to announce that Jason Adams has been selected as our Volunteer of the Year. Jason has managed at every level of VLL, is a current member of VLL's Board of Directors, and has served as the director of the Challenger Division for the past five years. Offered by VLL since 1989, the Challenger program enables individuals with physical and intellectual challenges to play adaptive baseball in a supportive, nurturing, and fun environment.
Jason has devoted countless hours to ensuring the program runs smoothly and meets the needs of the players and families. During the season, Jason leads the Challenger game of the week, pairing participants with Majors players who serve as guides during the game. Jason's passion for baseball and his hands-on coaching style make these games a rewarding and fun experience for everyone involved.
Jason will be honored during a ceremony preceding the Nats game on September 9, along with other awardees from local leagues participating in the Nats Team UP program. The Nats selected individuals who had generously served their leagues, encouraged their youth players, and exemplified teamwork and sportsmanship.
Fall Ball Games Begin Tuesday, September 5
 The calendar has finally turned to September, and that means Fall Ball is about to get underway!
Our website has current information on rosters, schedules, and much more. 2A games will be played on Mondays at 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. and 12:30, 3:00 and 5:30 p.m
3A games will be played on Wednesdays at 6:00 and 7:00 p.m., and on Saturdays at 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. Majors games will be played on Tuesdays at 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. and on Thursdays and Fridays at 6:00 p.m.
The Snack Bar will be open Tuesday evenings and Saturdays from 1:00-6:00 p.m. Hours may change as the season progresses.
Annual Meeting and VLL Board of Directors Nominations
 VLL is seeking nominations of qualified individuals to serve
on our Board of Directors from October 2023-September
2024. Elected annually, the Board is a “working board” composed of volunteers with diverse perspectives, varied backgrounds and skill sets who commit to provide stewardship and strategic direction for our youth baseball programs. For more information about various Board roles, please see these position descriptions. The current Board composition is available here.
All eligible candidates for the Board must have volunteered at least 40 hours within the prior year (October 2022 - September 2023). Qualifying volunteer service is not limited to coaching activities; service also includes time spent as a volunteer umpire, a team or GameChanger parent, or a volunteer at events such as tryouts, Opening Day, Donuts and Dingers, Picture Day or All Star games. (At least 25% of the Board must consist of members who are not currently managing or coaching.)

The election of the 2023-2024 VLL Board of Directors will be held at the VLL Annual Membership Meeting on Wednesday, September 20, at 7:00 p.m. (location TBD). Participation at the Annual Meeting (voting or making motions, including in the Board Election) is limited to recognized Regular Members of VLL, which requires the completion of at least 40 hours of volunteer service to VLL within the prior year (October 2022 - September 2023).
To be recognized as a Regular Member, please send your request, contact information, and a description of the requisite volunteer services, as attested to by another Regular Member, to Shannon Aimone ([email protected]) before 3:00 p.m. on September 20.
VLL @ Chillin' on Church on Friday, September 15
 Chillin’ on Church is the Town of Vienna's biggest block party and fun for all ages! Held on historic Church Street, the event includes food, local beer and wine, music, and family-friendly activities. The event runs from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on September 15, and admission is free.
Like last year, VLL will participate as a beer partner, with 20% of the beer and wine sales from the event donated to the League. This is a great way to show your town spirit while also supporting VLL. If you are interested in volunteering at the event, you can register HERE.
