Friday Night Lights Recap

Friday Night Lights Recap

Last Friday was the first installation of Major’s Friday Night Light’s series and if the rest of the nights are anything like Friday, we are all in for a treat!  Yeonas was absolutely buzzing in anticipation to watch the AL teams battle it out in prime time.  Pax L. got his name on the Dinger Board with a grand slam, while the White Sox’s Jacob S. took the ball over the fence for his first home.  Ryne A. became VLL’s first multi-homer player, but there is so much more to his bomb then it being his second of the season!  Below are the recaps of the 4 games from Friday:

Cubs over Yankees 22-1

In a total team effort, the Cubs racked up 17 hits, including 6 doubles and the Pax grand slam.  Bryce B. and Pax combined to go 9-9 with 12 RBI, 8 runs and 4 extra base hits!  Jac k L and Holden S. had multiple hits on the night for the Cubs who also received offensive contributions from Mo F., Ashlon G., Gannan A. and Jonathan R..  Ashlon was dazzling on the mound, going 5 complete and only allowing a single run.  Aaron K led the way for the Yankees with 2 hits, including a triple.

Blue Jays over Giants 17-7

The Jays had hits from every player in their lineup, a feat that had not been accomplished all season to this point.  Aiden R. had 3 hits on the night, including 2 doubles to lead the way for the Jays.  Graham M., Caden P., Alman K. and Evan W. also had multiple hits on the night while Bradley S., Andrew R., Adam R., Caroline and Dexter D. had hits.  The Giants 10 year olds led the offense Friday with Tripp M. and Spencer F. both having multi hit nights for the Giants.  Colson P and Carson P. contributed with hits as well.

Braves over Red Sox 27-3

The Braves’ offense exploded on Friday night, collecting 30 hits combined.  Asher C. and Brady K. both had 6 hit (yes, 6) nights while driving in a combined 9 runs and scoring 7 more.  Jack K. had 5 hits on the night, while Reece A. had 4.  Connor M. ripped 3 hits, drove in 2 and scored 3 runs.  Grant R. and Sean H. had 2 hits each on the night, while Elijah Y. and Jackson had hits for the Braves.  Brady K. pitched a gem going 5 innings and allowing no earned runs.  Brayden P., Matthew R. and Carter J. had hits for the Sox.

White Sox over Cards 11-10

In the lead I teased the homer that Ryne hit as more than just your average homer.  In a wild, back and forth, game between two of the top AL teams, the White Sox had just enough to take the victory.  Down 1 heading into the bottom of the sixth, things started to look bleak for the White Sox to maintain their undefeated season.  Tyler B. got a clutch single to get things started for the Sox, but quickly the Cards were able to record 2 outs.  With Tyler now on third as the tying run, Ryne stepped to the plate as the Sox last hope of the night.  The first pitch was a ball…then a strike.  With the count 1-1, 2 outs, down by 1 run with a runner on third, the pitcher let it fly and Ryne saw a pitch he liked and didn’t miss!  The ball sailed over the fence at Crabtree and we had a walk off home run!  As mentioned in the lead, Jacob had his first Little League homer to go along with Henry R's. 3-3 night.  Charlie J., Thomas B., Tyler B. and Kalil J. also had knocks for the Sox.  Somewhat overshadowed by Ryne’s heroics, the Cards had a heck of a night at the dish as well with Eric C., Matthew E, Sean Y. and Jacob K. going a combined 10-16 with 8 RBi and 3 extra base hits.  JJ W. smashed 2 doubles for the Cards as well, who also had a hit from John Mark A.

This Friday is the NL’s turn at Friday Night Lights and I am sure Yeonas will be just as electric.  We hope to see you there!
