AL 11's WIN REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
The AL 11's All Stars complete a perfect season and capture the southeast regional championship in the Tournament of State Champions in Wilson, NC.
The Big Red Machine capped off an impressive all-star season with a championship game win over North Carolina by a score of 2-1. The AL 11's closed it out with an exciting defensive play as Adam K, pitching in relief, rolled a ground ball to Brady K at 3B who calmly scooped it up, tagged third and gunned it to Case at 1B to secure the title.
Pax L started on the bump for the Big Red Machine and went 5 1/3 innings allowing only 5 hits and 1 run on 83 pitches. Adam K came in to close the game and did just that after a tense moment with the tying and go-ahead runs on base, he rolled that ground ball double play.
While the offense was not as prolific today as it has been all tournament long, Case kept up his red-hot hitting with a crucial game-tying home run to lead off the bottom of the second. The score remained tied until the bottom of the fifth. Carson P led of the fifth for the Big Red Machine with a single and then Brady wore one to bring Sean Y to the plate with 1 out and 2 on. Sean answered the bell and doubled to left field scoring CP on what would be the championship-winning run.
Vienna Little League is incredibly proud of these boys and the coaching staff for an incredible run. They competed with class, dignity and a tenacious competitive fire that brought home a regional championship to Vienna for the first time since 1972.
Congratulations to the Big Red Machine (and their parents too):
