2A & 3A League Championship Game Results

Tuesday night brought some exciting action in the AL & NL league championship games the 2A & 3A Town Tournaments.

In a run-filled game, the Blas Nationals secured the 2A-NL title with a 12-9 win over the Smith Nationals. Going into the bottom of the final inning, the Blas Nationals were up 12-5 and the Smith Nationals posted four runs in their bid for a comeback. The teams combined for 15 hits and twenty-five walks. Colin O. led the way for the Blas Nationals going 3 for 3 with an RBI and a double. Ben and Dane led the Smith Nationals going a combined 4 for 6 and scoring 3 runs.

The 2A-AL title provided even more drama as the Dorney Nationals edged out the Csigi Nationals on a walk-off RBI single to right field by Jack D. giving the Dorney Nationals the AL championship by a score of 7-6. Going into the bottom of the last inning the Csigi Nationals led 6-5. After loading the bases in the bottom of the final stanza, the Dorney Nationals got the tying RBI from Jack S. followed by the dramatic walk-off line drive by Jack D.

The Dorney Nationals will meet the Blas Nationals in the 2A Town Tournament title game on Thursday, June 9th at 7pm at Rhodes.

Moving up a level to 3A, the Blue Jays won the AL championship over the Twins by a score of 8-1. The game remained scoreless through 3 innings and then the offensive power of the Blue Jays came alive in the second half of the game as they scored 3 runs in the 4th and 5th and tacked on 2 more in the top of the last. The Blue Jays were led by Grant R. who went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and Griffin S. who went 2 for 3 with one RBI and a double. Graham M. pitched 4 innings for the Jays giving up no hits, no runs and striking out 8.

In the NL championship game, the Tigers secured the title with a 6-4 win over the Orioles. The Tigers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first and stretched that to 5-0 by the end of the 3rd. Going into the top of the 6th, the Tigers led 6-1 but the Orioles were not quite done as they put up 3 runs in the last inning. Jack led the way for the Tigers with 2 hits, a walk, and 3 RBIs on the night. Jack’s two hits included a double and an inside-the-park HR. Kellan started the game for the Tigers on the bump and went 3 innings giving up 1 hit, 1 walk, no runs and striking out 4.

The Blue Jays and the Tigers will face off in the 3A Town Tournament final at 7pm at Crabtree on Thursday, June 9th at 7pm.
