Friday Night Lights Results

Phillies over Red Sox 3-1

The victory for the Phillies Friday night was a compete team effort.  On the mound Sam Brewer and Max Swennson combined to hurl a 1 hitter against a very solid Red Sox lineup.  Sam and Max were backed up by great defense, led by Katy Krisick who dazzled at third base.  With the Phillies only up by 1 run in the 5th, they were in search of an insurance run and Sam delivered with a moon shot that cleared the sound barrier at Rhodes!  Also getting hits for the Philles were Cole Pointkowski, Zach Gantsoudes, Ben “Becker” Beck, Katy and Charlie Cilman.  The Red Sox Taylor Atkinson and Josh Tyrell combined to only allow 2 earned runs over 5 solid innings.  Macallan had a hit for the Sox.

Cardinals over Reds 6-2

The Cardinals used a 5 run inning to jump out to a 6-1 lead and eventually help on 6-2 to complete the victory over the Reds.  Josh Elmore was the catalyst for the Cardinals, going 3-3 at the plate and hurling 3 shutout innings and only allowing 1 hit while striking out 6.  Sean Y., Cole N. and Lukas K., all had 2 RBI for the Cards, while Amin A., and Eric C. contributed hits.  The Reds Cameron G. had a multiple hit night while Hunter J., Carter C., Landon M. and August M., collected hits for the Reds.

Cubs over Pirates 8-1

The scoring was hard to come by through 3 innings with the Cubs clinging to a 2-0 lead.  That all changed in the top of the 4th with the Cubs plating 6 in the frame.  The big blow in the inning came from Russell W. who smashed a 2 run double to open the game.  On the mound Aiden L. was dazzling, throwing 4 shutout innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 10.  Bryce B. was 3-3 and Holden S. & Eli J. had a multiple hit night.  Also collecting hits for the Cubs were Pax L., Jae W., Thomas L. and Wesley W.  Simon T. had the lone hit for the Pirates and Mitch W. threw a clean inning, striking out 3.

Twins tied with Braves through 8 innings

In what was shaping up to be the game of the year so far, 8 innings wasn’t enough to determine a winner between two of the top teams in the league.  The game will be continued at a later date.
