Home Run Derby Tomorrow
Saturday, May 30th is the last day of regular season games. Although it’s hard to believe how quickly the spring season flew by, we’re excited that the time has come for the Vienna Little League Home Run Derby / Donuts and Dingers event, scheduled for Saturday, May 30th from 8:00 am to 10:00 am with 17 eligible participants from across 12s, 11s and 10s, players that hit at least one HR this season.
The event will be held at the Crabtree Field at Yeonas Park. Donuts and event t-shirts will also be available for sale between Crabtree and Nance Fields. This will be a fun and memorable event for participating players and spectators, especially for the younger kids who aspire to participate in a future Home Run Derby themselves. Come out and enjoy this special event with us!
Here's the event schedule:
- 8:00-8:15: Volunteers and participants check in
- 8:15-8:30: Meet on Crabtree field to review sequence of events, rules
- 8:30-9:15: Round 1 (all participants)
- 9:15-9:45: Round 2 (top 10 participants)
- 9:45-10:00: Final Round (top 5) and Awards (winner)
This is an all-volunteer run event and there are still a few spots left if you’d like to sign up to help out. We still need help with donut and merchandise sales and we’re looking for someone to bring lots of energy as Dinger the mascot. Please sign up for available volunteer roles. See you there tomorrow morning!

Yeonas Speaker System Design/Install Expert Needed
As we prepare to host All-Star games this summer at Yeonas, we’re looking for A/V experts in the community to help with design and installation of an upgraded speaker system. We heard feedback that the current speaker system can be hard to hear and sound gets distorted, so we’re looking for expert advice on selecting and installing a speaker system that will optimize the spectator experience. Please reach out to Buildings & Grounds Director Zach Smith at [email protected].
Fall Registration Opens June 1st
Fall Ball registration will open on June 1st and we hope that you’ll consider registering early. Fall Ball is a great opportunity for players to get extra development reps in a fun, laid back environment. We know many play other fall sports, which is why fall ball is specifically designed to be supportive and complementary of other sport commitments. So don’t hesitate, sign up on June 1st!
Intermediate Division
For 12 year olds that want another year of VLL next year, Intermediate (50/70) division is a great option designed for players League Age 13 to bridge the transition to the 60/90 "big field." This division fields two teams that play games against Intermediate division teams from neighboring towns.
Games are played on fields with dimensions that are bigger than Little League but smaller than a regular 90-foot baseball diamond; the Little League pitching distance is increased by 4 feet, to 50 feet, and the length of the base paths is increased by 10 feet, to 70 feet. Advanced concepts of leads, pickoffs, and balks are introduced at this level.
Intermediate (50/70) teams typically practice 1-2 times per week and compete in weekly games against other Little Leagues in Northern Virginia. Home games are Friday evenings at Nottoway Park. For additional information, reach out to Intermediate Division Director Matthias Ziegler at [email protected].
Concessions Director Volunteers Opportunity
We have an opening for the Concessions Director position. This role is core to our league’s community and we’re looking for one or multiple volunteers to take the baton. you’ll be stepping into a well-oiled concession system that brings together the entire VLL community. Email [email protected] if you’re interested or have any questions!
