1A OFF-SEASON PROGRAM (AGES 7–8)
Purpose: Build consistent throwing mechanics, basic glove work, early hitting fundamentals, and physical coordination.
Weekly Schedule (2–3 sessions per week)
Session Length: 30–40 minutes
Warm-Up
1. Light jog – 1 minute
2. Dynamic stretches (leg swings, trunk rotations)
3. Shoulder warm-ups: arm circles, “scap squeeze”
Throwing Program
1. Wall wrist-flicks – 15
2. Knee-throw drill – 10
3. Standing form throws – 15
4. Partner catch – 20–30 throws total
Hitting
1. Tee work: 10–15 swings
2. Soft toss: 10 swings
3. Front toss: 10–15 controlled pitches
4. Focus on: stance balance, stride timing, staying tall
Fielding
1. Ground balls: 15–20
2. Glove-to-throwing-hand transfer
3. Mini-reaction drills (roll the ball lightly to left/right)
Athleticism / Strength
1. Planks: 10–15 seconds
2. Squats: 10 reps
3. Jumping patterns
4. Encourage other sports
