Majors Game 5 Recaps

As the Majors schedule starts to hit it’s stride, we had 2 more players added to the Dinger Board!  Chase H. and Declan H. both launched balls over the Crabtree fence last night to propel the Nationals to victory.  There were some great pitching performances in game 5 but none better than the pitchers duel between, the Cardinals, Sean Y. and the Red Sox Case M.!  Ultimately the Cards came out on top 1-0, but an impressive performance by both players.  Below are all the Game 5 recaps:

Braves over Yankees 10-8

The Braves scored 7 early and held off a hard charging Yankees team to preserve the victory.  Sean H. led the way for the Braves, going 3-3 with 3 RBI.  Brady K. pitched well over 3.2 innings, allowing only 1 earned run.  Brady also had a double at the plate for the Braves, who also had offensive contributions from Jack K., Grant R. and Max M..  Adam K. continued his tear for the Yankees, collecting 3 more hits, all extra bases, and scoring two runs and driving in two others.  Aaron K., John K., Trey H. and Fredrick C. had hits for the Yankees.

White Sox over Giants 8-7

After the top of the 5th, things did not look promising for the White Sox.  With only 6 outs remaining the Sox were down by 6 runs.  But the Sox don’t give up easily and after the bottom half of the 5th the game was tied.  After a scoreless 6th the game headed to extra innings!  After the Giants failed to plate a run in the top half of the 7th and after the first 2 batters for the Sox struck out, Charlie J. stepped to the plate.  With the count full and the winning run on second (International rules) Charlie ripped a ball into left field to score Tyler B. and walk off the Giants!  Also contributing on offense for the Sox were William S., Jonah K., Henry R., Thomas B., Tyler B. and Khalil J..  Carson P. and Tripp M. were the offensive stars for the Giants, both collecting 2 hits and driving in a total of 5.  Spencer F. dazzled on the mound going 2 complete and not allowing a run.

Cardinals over Red Sox 1-0

As mentioned in the lead, this was the pitchers duel of the year!  Case M. was the tough luck loser, going 5 full, allowing only 1 hit, no earned runs and striking out 12.  Sean Y. also only allowed a single hit and threw a complete game shutout and striking out 11!  The lone run of the game came after Sean got on with a single, advanced to second and third on passed balls.  With 2 outs Vincent M. put the ball and play and, as coaches say, when you put the ball in play good things happen!  In this case Sean was able to cross the plate for the only run of the night!

Cubs over Blue Jays 7-1

Bryce B. got the nod for the Cubs and didn’t let his manager down, going 4 complete and allowing only 1 hit and no runs over 4 innings of work.  Bryce also helped his own cause at the plate going 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI.  Pax L. had a multiple hit night including a double.  Mo F. had 2 knocks and Braylen G., Gannan A., Jack L. all had hits for the Cubs.  Tyler D., Bradley S., Graham M. and Andrew R. collected hits for the Jays and Caden P. make several stellar plays at the hot corner.

Phillies over Reds 26-6

Cole P. had a night for the Phillies!  The stud catcher went 5-6 with 2 doubles, 3 runs scored and 6 RBI!  Kyle O., Carter T., Charlie C., Ben B. and Max S. all had multiple hits on the night and Wyatt S. and Karim A. also had hits for the Phillies.  Alejandro F. scored 4 runs for the Phillies.  Luke P. had 2 hits on the night for the Reds and could have had his third if not for Ben B.’s excellent catch on a towering flyball off his bat.  August M., Conor E., Zach S., Austin B. and Grant B. all had hits for the Reds.

Twins over Colts 10-5

Nate H. pitched a gem for the Twins, going 4.2 innings, allowing only 2 hits and no earned runs, while striking out 12.  At the plate Nate smashed a double and drove in 2 and scored 3 runs.  Kiel R. had his best night of the young season, going 3-4 with a double and 3 RBI.  IJ M., Cooper S., and Nate R. had 2 hits on the night each for the Twins, who also had contributions from Caleb G.  Chris M. and Jack L. had the big hits of the night for the Colts, with Jack drilling a triple to the fence and Chris smashing a double to left.  Ryne E. and Anthony S. also had hits for the Colts.

Pirates over Dodgers 4-1

Mitch W. was one out away from a complete game and had to “settle” for a stat line of 5.2 innings pitched, 1 hit, no earned runs and 8ks!  Mitch had multiple hits on the night, including a double.  Eli N. had a multiple hit night and Kyle H. reached base all 3 plate appearances scoring a run and driving in one.  Miles N. pitched great for the Dodgers, going 5 full and scattering 3 hits while striking out 3.  Connor N. had a hit for the Dodgers.

Nationals over Orioles 14-9

Home Run alert X 2!!  Chase H. has been close several times and Wednesday night he finally got to see a ball sail over the fence for his first ever little league home run!  They say hitting is contagious…well, maybe home runs are contagious because later in the game Declan H. stepped to the plate and deposited the ball into the trees behind Crabtree’s left field fence.  Both teams’ offense came to play Wednesday with a combined 21 hits.  The 4 H’s (Ashton, Chase, Owen and Declan) again continued to ignite the Nats offense, going a combined 7-15 with 8 RBI, 7 runs scored, 3 doubles and a bomb.  Brayden B. ripped a triple for the Nats, who also go hits from Maddox M. and Luke W..  The Orioles hitters were hot as well, with 8 players having hits on the night, including multiple hits from Max R. and Garrett M..  Hunter G. smashed a double and Daniel B., Jack M., Parker B., Kevin C. and Webb S. also had hits on the night.
