Now through November 20, VLL will be accepting applications to fill any manager vacancies that exist or may arise on our 16 Majors teams. Interested candidates must submit an application to be considered for appointment.
Organized, skilled and compassionate coaches are the cornerstone of VLL. We seek candidates who will develop our youngsters into better athletes while upholding the highest standards for sportsmanship and citizenship. We expect these qualities to be evident in a candidate's application and history of volunteerism.
Selected managers will lead their team of 10-12-year-old players during the Spring and Fall seasons and are expected to be willing to make a multiple-year commitment (ideally at least three years) to the team and league, subject to reappointment.
Interested candidates should submit an application package that includes the following items:
- Cover letter describing candidate’s interest and attributes;
- Coaching resume, including details about prior coaching and volunteer experience;
- At least three and no more than five letters of recommendation from parents of former or current players, other coaches, or other people who are familiar with the applicant’s character and attributes as a person and as a coach; and
- Examples of previously used or proposed practice plans.
Please note that selection as a manager is unrelated to the AL/NL player affiliation process. Also please be aware that applications are not directed to any specific team or vacancy. Final team assignments for all managers will be made at the discretion of the League President, with approval of the VLL Board of Directors.

Applications received after the deadline will be reviewed at the discretion of the Manager Selection Committee.
Selected candidates will interview with the Manager Selection Committee in late November/early December. Decisions will be made in December or January.
